You know you want to write a novel this year. And you know you want to write a novel with me — because, why not? I’ll be there to support you every step of the way and I promise it’ll be fun! We’ll start with the basics and move through all the ins and outs of writing the next Great American Novel (because I have faith that yours is going to be fan-freaking-tastic when you’re through with it), including getting it published.
Best of all, we’ll do it in bite-sized bits, so you’re not intimidated by a huge project staring you in the face. The number one reason writers never get their ideas out of their heads and onto the page is that the task–when viewed as one single effort “writing a novel”– can seem way out of reach.
Not so when you write a novel with me! We’ll take it easy and make it fun along the way.
We’re going to explore all aspects of novel writing, from setting up your writing space to publishing (or self-publishing) your finished work.
Don’t skip ahead for the first month or two, because these months are critical for your success. After you’re completely set up and ready to write, the timing will be up to you.
And if you’re the kind of person who needs to be held accountable, I’ve got good news. I’ll add encouragement and some suggested timelines as we progress so you can keep yourself on track. Other than that, I’ll be providing guidance on plot, story, character development and more throughout the journey.
Once we hit November, though, it will be time to switch tracks to agent/publisher querying and self-publishing.
For the rest of this month, we’ll focus on getting your writing space set up, with all the bells and whistles. I’ll address software, hardware, space, and even time management, so you’ll have absolutely no reason not to write a novel with me when we’re done. In the last blog post of the month, I’ll give you a preview of what’s coming up in February.
Are you ready to finally get that novel out of your head and onto bookshelves? I know you are! Take a breather for the rest of this week. Goof off, binge-watch your favorite show, read a stack of books, dance, laugh or play. Just come back next Sunday refreshed and let’s get started.
See you on the next page!
